Pro Wrestling Playlist

The first episode of the podcast I’m doing with my friends Matt and Jamie is up and can be found on this very website! It should be searchable on every podcast platform I could think of (still waiting on Apple Podcasts, but it should up there soon), but if you need it here’s the rss.

The podcast is about professional wrestling (duh) and the format is that we pick a topic in wrestling - this can be a wrestler’s entire career, a type of match, a title run, a feud, or pretty much anything we can think of; we pick a handful of matches (usually five or six) that illustrate the theme and dissect them in detail as well as talking about the histories of the wrestlers involved, the promotion, a belt’s lineage, the origins of a particular move, or whatever else comes up. I write a summary of each match and research anything interesting I think is relevant to the discussion and read this to Jamie and Matt who comment and add their own thoughts, opinions, facts I didn’t think to add etc.

All that is to say that this is a fairly labour-intensive process (not to mention actually recording and editing these podcasts); we’re aiming to record a show a month, which will usually be split into two parts which will be released every fortnight. I’m also planning to do shorter special episodes where a friend and I discuss a topic of their choice (this will probably be their favourite wrestler) . These episodes will be a little more free-flowing and less structured than regular episodes.

Anyway the gist is that this whole project is a labour of love, none of us are getting paid to do it and life, plus my less-than-stellar mental health mean that schedules will slip, but I will try to keep the podcasts as regular as I possibly can. I don’t really expect anyone to listen, or to read this blog, but it makes me feel better to lay this all out. If you have listened to the podcast thank you, it is greatly appreciated.

Oh also you can get in touch either on Twitter or by emailing prowrestlingplaylistpodcast@gmail.com. We also have an instagram, but I don’t really do instagram, so it probably won’t be very active.

This is Sparkie. She was definitely not a cyborg-cat built to annhilate mankind.
